And this can only be achieved if the work is done cleanly. Botched seams can have far-reaching consequences and are relevant to safety. The use of quality tools, careful work and many years of experience are the best basis for approaching joining by welding correctly.
Regardless of the welding process used (TIG, MIG, MAG, plasma, electrodes), welders resort to surface preparation tools when chamfering the edge, preparing the weld zone or cleaning the welding layers.
Welding professionals know their craft and usually do not need to make corrections. In addition to proper technique, cleaning is key to removing slag inclusions between weld beads or spatter before applying the next weld ply. Bond defects, cracks or overlap? Then it may be necessary to grind out weld ply or level welds.
