After levelling the last weld, the finishing of the welded workpiece starts. The surface in the area around the leveled cap layer is adjusted.
After levelling the last welding layer, you can work on the finishing of the welded workpiece. Here, the surface in the area around the leveled top layer is adjusted so that there everything is even and the entire area appears as if it were "cast in one piece".
It is possible to satin finish the surface or to bring it to a high gloss. It is important to always work with the tools gradually from coarse to fine.
Satin finishes are achieved, for example, with our abrasive fleece discs Polimaxx 2 and 3. As a rule, only one work step per disc is necessary here. Polimaxx 2 is a fan-shaped fleece disc with a medium fleece structure, Polimaxx 3 has a fine fleece structure. Both discs can be used universally for stainless steel, steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metals.
A smooth, or even high-gloss surface can be created with non-abrasive fleece in combination with polishing compounds. Polimaxx 4, a gloss polishing flap disc, is suitable for this. Our compound recommendation: If the workpiece is made of stainless steel, pre-polish with white compound. For non-ferrous metals, use brown compound for pre-polishing. For a high-gloss finish always use blue polishing compound afterwards. Important: Always use flap discs for one compound only. New compound = new disc.
Polimaxx 3 - last step in achieving a fine, matted surface.
Polimaxx 4 - achieving a high-gloss finish in combination with polishing compounds. Step 1 = prepolishing with white compound for stainless steel or brown compound for non-ferrous steel. Step 2 = high-gloss polishing with blue compound for stainless and non-ferrous metals.
